Reflection

What I Learned

Communication design at GUM taught me how to hold a consistent visual identity across wildly different outputs: from a club night poster to a hand-drawn dinner invite to a cross-brand collaboration with a radio station. The challenge was never making each piece look the same; it was making each piece feel like it came from the same place. That means understanding what a brand actually is beneath its surface rules: its tone, its audience, its register in different contexts. Working at the pace a student magazine runs at, fast, reactive, and always for a real deadline with a real venue or a real edition, sharpened the discipline of designing under constraint without losing intent.
